THE LEAD: The shorthanded Nets (21-25) blitzed the Sixers early, but it took them the rest of the game to fully close out the visitors. Led by Livington's active hands the Nets forced 26 turnovers, 15 of which were steals. When they weren't losing the ball or having a hard time attacking Kevin Garnett (five blocks), the Sixers (15-34) shot 52 percent, as the Nets struggled to contain Thaddeus Young (17 points) and Tony Wroten (18 points).

Pierce led the Nets with 25 points. Deron Williams scored 21 and Teletovic added 20. A third of the Nets' normal nine-man rotation sat with various ailments: Joe Johnson (right knee tendinitis), Andray Blatche (bruised left hip) and Andrei Kirilenko (sore calf). As a result, Reggie Evans, Mason Plumlee and Jason Terry all played double digit minutes.

THE STAT: The Sixers' 26 turnovers yielded 32 points for the Nets.

TURNING POINT: After he sank a jumper, Williams found Teletovic with a pinpoint bounce pass in transition. Up seven with just under three minutes remaining, the Nets were in solid position to hold on.
